Broomfield of Dreams

Today I've been in my apartment for 2 weeks!! I already don't know where the time is going, but I'm settling in great! Some of my favorite parts about being in this apartment include a great kitchen, fitness center, pool, and hot tub. My southern facing windows mean my apartment is constantly flooded with light (but unfortunately I'm also getting the brunt of these hot summer days!).

Moving in was quite a challenge as there is no loading area for the apartment. Luckily since I have been an RA for the past couple of years, I didn't have a lot of stuff or furniture so our treks from the truck to the elevator weren't as frequent as they could've been. The tenants before me sold me their couch and bed frame, saving me two giant pieces of furniture to move and leaving me with the task of decorating to make it personal. I'm adding pops of blue, like in the fun pillows I found at TJ Maxx, but I still have a long way to go to get this place fully decorated. I'll be waiting for a little while though until my roommate moves in and we can make it feel like ours!

I love love love being in such a great location. I'm five minutes (if that) from Flatirons Mall, giving me access to a ton of shops and restaurants. It's certainly not Boulder, but a 10 minute hop on the highway gets me there too!

From my apartment balcony I can overlook the gorgeous mountain range. The other night I had just finished eating dinner after a stormy afternoon, happened to look out the window, and saw the most spectacular cloud formations swirling around the foothills as the sun began going down. I ran down to my car, sped to the top of a nearby hill and photographed one of the coolest sunsets I've ever seen. Dozens of people were pulled over on the side of the highway to watch the clouds; all of us were silent standing on the edge of this big field just soaking in the beauty and the glory of this great place called Earth. Thank God I didn't ever leave Colorado. Now I just have to decide which photo to get printed nice and big to hang on my wall!

Now that I'm settled into my new place, I'm finding time to read, learn how to cook, run, and of course spend time on photography! I'm realizing that Broomfield is a very versatile location with both Denver and the mountains just a short jaunt away giving me access to tons of great locations for photoshoots. Can't wait to start shooting more again now that life is slowing down a bit. I'm also looking forward to blogging more of my adventures in this new life of mine, so stay tuned for more to come!
